Lines of Defence is a personal writing space about careers and judgement in a technology shaped world. It exists to clarify thinking on how people can build durable, meaningful careers as technology changes the nature of work, expertise, and decision-making.

The writing draws on books, articles, conversations, and experience. Its purpose is not to teach or advise, but to clarify ideas, surface trade-offs, and make patterns visible over time.

I write primarily to sharpen my own thinking, and to create a record I can return to.

About the author

I work in technology and have spent much of my career close to questions of judgement, responsibility, and decision-making.

This site is written in a personal capacity and reflects my own lines of inquiry rather than the views of any organisation.

How to use this material

Everything here is shared in the spirit of reflection rather than instruction.

You may find ideas that resonate, provoke disagreement, or feel incomplete. That is intentional. The writing is best read as working notes on careers, judgement, and learning.

Where decisions carry meaningful consequences, you should always seek context specific to your own situation.
